Color Splash
By: Marissa Villanueva
Photography for me has been a way to tell a story using single shots, but also self-observations defined through various interpretations. With photography, there is always room for improvement, but sometimes you need to venture into different types of art forms to change your photographic perspective and muse. Throughout Quarantine, I have learned more about the psychological effects that color has on an audience and when to use it appropriately in pictures and film. I began to understand the key role colors play in helping to exaggerate the emotions in a still, but also to define natural beauty. After months of research, I have come to understand that we all see color differently and some of us don't see certain hues. I compiled my research and used it to plan out every single shot critically, especially when it came to what colors I used.
I want my art to open the human eye to not only the beauty of color but also how it can change our perceptions and highlight natural beauty.
