"Color and creativity are evermore."

COLOR. Something I find as an artist to be so individually daring to find it’s perceptive meaning in all areas of our life, from adolescence to when we grey. When we become adults, more often than not we come to believe we are completely pulled away from imaginative creativity. Our mind is the most intense game we will ever play, because we find it can take control and cause us to digress away from the growth of our true, creative self. This piece is the reproduction of a few pen drawings, that I produced when I was younger, and are composed in a colorful manner as a collage on canvas in a new style. To adhere to the adolescent self, I only used my hands to paint this… ONLY my hands. This piece is an explosion of color that builds around ideas produced at an adolescent age, where I still have those same basic designs, yet they are emerged into a new format. These same basic designs are reborn into a new life, but their past life remains. It is in this chaos of change, creatively and intuitively, that we must find an acceptance for this process.

When we are children, we create.

When we are children, we design pieces of art without question.

When we are children, there is a highly noted, low level of doubt in our creations.

When we grow up, we are summoned to maturity.

When we grow up, we are enveloped in an overlay of professionalism and societal expectations.

When we grow up, we come to believe that creativity has left, and muted color now speaks for our eyes.

But I do not believe this for myself.

Color and creativity are evermore.

I do not believe that this chaotic change in colors we see, in relation to this most intense change we know all to well ourselves, defines the limits of our creativity.

My art speaks to this unknown, and uncomfortable change.

Color and creativity are evermore, so much that they themselves do change with time, but it is that of the time was take for ourselves to choose that colors will stay forever.

Oni Gallegos

IMG_8061.jpg

is a traditional artist who grew up in a military family, and in traveling across the  country to new homes, she immersed herself in an adoration for colors whilst passing the natural  beauty of the world around her. Though Oni Gallegos pursues mostly 2 dimensional art, such as  painting and drawing, she thrives in other media as well, including sculpture and digital  illustration. Oni’s artistic style lies solely in her explosions of colors that embellish her whimsical  creatures and intricate compositions. Her subjects vary in a wide range, and her choice in scale  brings the odd behavior of her work into visual perspective. Oni Gallegos has been a part of  many art shows, including the Oceanside Art Walks and the traveling art showcase, RAW Artists. Her largest work thus far can be seen on permanent exhibition in the second level hallway wall,  measured at 6 feet tall and 24 feet wide, at the millennial oriented MOXY hotel in downtown  San Diego’s Gaslamp. She has a Business Associates and is now finishing her last year at  California State University San Marcos to obtain a Visual and Performing Arts B.A. While she is  currently working in the event planning industry, bringing extravagant party ideas to life and  making envisioned weddings designs into reality, she resides in San Diego, Oni Gallegos resides in San Diego, California.
